Prof. Dr. Hans-Otto Pörtner addresses the emergence of the climate crisis from the perspective of the recent Special Reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. He provides an overview of the impacts of climate change and its future risks for land, ocean and cryosphere. He shows ways in which these mostly very disadvantageous changes can still be limited. The talk will focus on the advantages of the ambitious side of the Paris 2015 climate agreement, but also on how little time is left to achieve this target.
